Wine Cooler Review: Product Overview

This wine cooler is ideal for the novice wine collector.  It is practical way to begin your collection.  It has a single temperature control, that will keep your wine at the perfectly chilled temperature. This is a handy feature for me as my hands don’t work as good as they used too! The interior temperature is easily adjusted by a simple rotation of the conveniently located control dial.  This allows you to choose the perfect temperature for your wine.

It has a 12 bottle capacity, which is great for a beginner.  Let’s face it, not everyone can have an expensive wine cellar.  But that does not mean you can’t care for or store your current inventory of wine in a great manner.  This unit takes up a small portion of counter top or floor space, in order for you to have wine at the perfect temperature, when you need it.

The fact that it is portable allows you to have it near you, whether you are out on the deck, or in your den. When I am sharing wine with friends, I prefer it to be close at hand. You don’t want anyones’ glass to be empty! It is just that easy.

It comes in a stylish black exterior, which allows it to fit in with any décor.

To add to the sleek look, there is a recessed door handle and a hidden door hinge.  The shelves inside are a silver chrome, which add stability and are nice to look at through the tinted glass door.Door  This tinting is aesthetically pleasing, and serves the purpose of reducing the light that may come through and damage the wine.  There is an interior light that is attractive to see, and practical when you are peering in to pick your next glass of wine.  As I get older,  any help in the sight department is welcomed by me!Light

Lastly, and very importantly, because this is a thermo electric cooling unit, it runs ultra quiet.  No Noise! I can quietly read a book while I enjoy my glass of shiraz.  And, when guests are over, we can hear each other, and the music!

When you combine the portability, the quite running, temperature control, and sleek finish with the high quality branding of Westinghouse, this is my wine cooler review pick for someone who is starting their journey into the adventures of wine.  It is the perfect size.  The price point is very good.  There are less expensive units available, but they usually do not have a 12 bottle capacity. A lower price point also involves an electric compressor motor, which are noisy.  The lower cost units also do not look as nice as the Westinghouse WWT120MB.

    Hi Judith
What a fantastic website niche, informative content and visuals. I will take any wine tips you’ve got. Question: how long after opening red wine is still good to consume?
Im a Wine Lover... keep up the great work, I’ll be on the look out for more material from you.

Thank you for the comment.  Red wine will keep about 3 days.  There are some tools on the market that claim to prolong this.  If my red wine remains after 3 days, I will cook with it or make it into ice cubes for sangria.

This is an amazing useful thing to have in the kitchen if one is a wine lover. I’m not old enough to drink wine but it makes an excellent gift for my uncle who loves his wine. Does this have to be plugged in to keep the temperature ?

Thank You for the comment. Yes it needs to be plugged in.  Think of it as a small fridge just for wine, designed to hold temperature that is for wine.

I’m not much of a drinker, but I do appreciate a nice glass of wine with a meal occasionally. I always wondered why someone would invest in a wine cooler when they could just use their refrigerator. Now I know! It has to do with the temperature?! My sister-in-law is a real bonified wine connoisseur and owns a wine cooler. Now I know why tastes so great at her house.

Thank you for the comment. Yes, when you get the Wine Bug, it is nice to have all the accoutrements that go along with it.  I prefer my wine at the correct temperature.

    Hi Judith,

This is a nice review of the Westinghouse WWT120MB wine cooler. I enjoy a glass of wine from time to time and also have a small collection. Eventually, I may break down and buy a wine cooler. This is a nice wine cooler. Not too big, you can set it on your counter top or in a small space in your room which doesn’t take up too much space. I like that it’s portable, you carry it out to your patio. And it looks simple. I like simplicity…makes life easy for you.

Thank you for sharing your post.

I’m not a wine drinker personally but this will make a great present for my dad. He makes his own wine from a cherry tree in his garden. Can I ask about the storage of different types of wine, does red or white wine store at different temperatures?

Thank you for the comment. Yes Reds and Whites do do have different temperatures that they are best stored at. Go to for a list of the corresponding temperatures.
